Capilia® VT

Verotoxin-producing Escherichia coli strains (VTEC) cause hemorrhagic colitis and hemolytic-uremic syndrome in humans. Laboratory diagnosis by conventional methods is slow and cumbersome. Capilia VT® features a simple immunochromatography test for verotoxin Ⅰ& Ⅱ detection from colony sweeps from selective enrichment agar (BHI, CAYE, CT-TSB etc) . A polymyxin B extraction step releases verotoxins for increased sensitivity and worker safety, and optional centrifugation procedure can be performed for rapid results (60 min.). It is 100% sensitive and 100% specific when compared to the verocell assay for culture isolates of E. coli, and formats for routine use in laboratories of all sizes and testing requirements are available.
Sensitivity, rapidity and ease of performance make this technique especially valuable for clinical diagnosis.
